The Test of a Society

One true test of a society is observed through how they respond to natural disasters: how quickly they act, how well prepared they were before the disaster, and how earth friendly their response is in the final analysis.

 

Yes, there are questions as to whether the BP oil rig explosion was deliberate or accidental. We will know which is true by how intelligently, and how quickly, the responsible parties and governing authorities respond to the clean up. We will discover a lot about motives in the next few days and weeks.

 

We live in an age where a vast array of diverse life philosophies move the tide of human activity. Some of these philosophies, seek domination and control, and think nothing of using planned destruction as a means to an end. Others seek harmony and balance, and understand the folly of all self-serving motives.

 

In Support of the Common Good

Those that live their life in support of the common good, also understand the infinitely powerful ways of Nature, to some degree or another, and seek to align their lives with the natural ways to every degree possible. It is clearly obvious to those that live from this perspective, that living in harmony with the Natural Order is the only way we, as a planet, will freely thrive!

 

We were made to live in harmonious balance with Nature, as depicted by stories of the "Garden of Eden". Getting back to that original state of natural coexistence is merely a choice.

 

Those that succeed will regain their health, their natural genius intelligence, and the natural powers of a true divine being. They will also regain a deeply embedded communion with the Source of All Life.

 

How we as a society choose to respond to the upcoming series of natural events, and the political, economic and spiritual transformations that surround them, will reveal the true nature of our character as a human people.

 

If we respond to these events with earth friendly solutions, (and with the same enthusiasm that our nation has sought to engage in wars of the past and present), this, and many future disasters, will simply become the avenue through which we learn about and implement a variety of solutions to the vast array of human challenges facing us today.

 

The point here is - we already know many of the answers, so the question becomes, are we willing to mandate that they be implemented?

 

Some Interesting Facts About Oil Spills That Have Been Going On Now For Decades

Oil well leakage from oil platforms or ships, whether deliberate or accidental, only constitute about 6% of all oil spill pollution worldwide.

Tristan Fowler explains:

"And while industrial oil spills like the one in the Gulf seem massive, they don’t compare to what every day Americans wash down their storm drains every year. About 32 percent of the oil that ends up in the oceans surrounding North America are from the accumulation of runoff from cars, jet skis, and boats, says a 2003 report by the National Academy of Sciences. That’s the equivalent of 600,000 barrels, or 25.2 million gallons, of oil every year. Combined with the 1.1 million barrels of oil naturally seeping from ocean floor, more than 94 percent [of environmentally polluting] oil is released into the oceans from everyday Americans or Mother Nature."

 

So, oil spills are nothing new, and solutions to oil spills have also been around now for billions of years. OK, so let's just say humanity of today is just now waking up to them - so let's get busy and put these natural methods to work!

 

Four Natural Solutions to Oil Spill Cleanup with Benefits to Other Areas Needing Pollution Cleanup

There are at least four simple, natural methods capable of oil spill cleanup that are able to prevent further damage to our precious ecology. When combined, they offer a powerful solution to not only the oil spill cleanup, but also to the 8,500 square miles of Dead Zone Area at the mouth of the Mississippi River in the Gulf of Mexico - caused by the other form of pollution in that area - chemical farmland runoff from all along the Mississippi River that has killed a vast amount of the sea life in that region.

There are at least 405 Dead Zones worldwide in bodies of water where oxygen levels get too low to sustain marine life. Dead zones are largely caused by chemical nitrate fertilizers used by farmers and home gardeners along with animal and human sewage disposal sent into our waterways. Excessive nitrogen causes an algal bloom that uses up available oxygen in the water, vastly reducing marine life populations in the region.

Quoting from the research listed in Wikipedia:

"Dead zones are reversible. The Black Sea dead zone, previously the largest dead zone in the world, largely disappeared between 1991 and 2001 after fertilizers became too costly to use following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the demise of centrally planned economies in Eastern and Central Europe. Fishing has again become a major economic activity in the region."

 

1) Environmentally Conscious Farm and Garden Practices

So clearly, replacing the use of chemical fertilizers with natural fertilizers is essential to improving marine life in these dead zones and reducing pollution worldwide.

 

On the other hand, immediate stop-gap measures include adding Pyrophyllite Clay (Silica Rich) to farmland soils, lakes, and in the waterways themselves, to prevent the toxic runoff from reaching the major rivers that lead to the ocean.

 

2) Oil Eating Microbes (Archaea)

This is the simplest and most effective remedy. The oil eating capabilities of various strains of archaea can clean both your soils and waterways from a wide variety of toxins, including oil spills of any size. The United Nations Environmental Program tests have even demonstrated the natural ability of archaea strains to clean up some of the worst toxins of the chemical industry. Other benefits? The dead zones of the world would also disappear.

 

3) Paul Stamets' Mushroom Solution for Oil Spills

In the middle of the TED video (located toward the bottom of the article), you will see a picture of a small mountain of mushrooms that grew off of a combination of petrochemicals, drastically reducing its petroleum count, while building the beginnings of a dynamic ecosystem.

 

4) Hey, What About Hay?

Here is a revealing, simple approach from the practical side of farmers. This video shows how hay tossed onto the oil in the ocean will attract the oil to itself (remember, oil and water don't mix, but hay and oil become a bonded pair), and continue to float on the surface until large seaweed harvesters come by and pick it up. It can then be delivered to a future forest, inoculated with mycelia from mushrooms which would feed off of the oil and convert it to food. The resulting biomass will pick up some of the diverse flora and fauna of the region as seeds are delivered to the pile by the local birds and animals. Trees can be planted nearby, and based on known evidence, one of the most lush forest areas in the state will soon follow.

 

Summary

Bottomline is that natural answers already exist - and they are more effective, and more powerful, than the chemical attempts. Of course, vested interests also exist which prefer you do not know of these natural measures, but their world is rapidly crumbling before our eyes, and an entire world focused on cooperation for the betterment of the whole is now emerging from the shadows.
