16+ Sleep-Promoting and Daytime-Calming Herbs
Synergistically Combined in One Balanced Formula
------ --- ------
Nocturia is defined as the act of waking to void during the hours of intended sleep.
Urine is produced, throughout both day and night, in order to regulate the body fluid homeostasis, electrolytes, the acid–base balance, and to remove toxins and metabolic by-products of normal body functions.
During sleep, the kidney filtration rate and urine production are typically reduced by an increase of the nighttime antidiuretic hormone (ADH) in order to promote a continuous sleep cycle throughout the night.
One or more of the following 7 contributing factors to nocturia can diminish or prevent the production of ADH, resulting in getting up more often to void.
[1] Electrolyte imbalance — leading to excessive acidic or alkaline conditions, and is caused by excesses, deficiencies, or unavailability in specific minerals (calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, etc.)
Solution: High earthen mineral intake for a constant balanced supply of electrolytes (Mineral Manna, Ancient Mineral Blend, Sacred Clay).
[2] Excessive salt intake — High salt intake leads to water storage during the day, which is then released during the body’s nighttime rebalancing and cleansing efforts.
Solution: Ensure the salt consumed is a full mineral sea salt. Most salt excesses are derived from refined table salt (just sodium chloride), found especially in processed canned and packaged or fast food.
Reduce total salt intake from all sources to a teaspoon (5 ml) or less, over the course of a day. Increase sea vegetables with their naturally occurring salt presence, along with numerous other minerals and electrolytes.
[3] Dehydration (surprisingly) — Insufficient structured water intake (also made worse by excessive salt intake, resulting in water stored but not utilized for daytime cleaning house and toxin dilution during kidney filtration processes at night.
Solution: Replace water intake with structured water. There are numerous ways to structure your water. Search it out online. A more expanded article on this subject in the future.
[4] Insufficient fruits and vegetables in the diet — A direct correlation during measured trials was observed of less frequent nocturia among those who ate more fruits and vegetables than those who ate less.
Solution: Make at least 1/ or more of your diet fruits and vegetables. Seaweeds, algae, alfalfa, moringa, nettle, etc. are exceptionally qualified for this purpose, being much more highly nutrient dense than common vegetables (so consume both categories daily). Earth & Sea Greens, or Sea Vegetable Blend, Vital Cleanse & Nutrify.
[5] Low melatonin production at night — “Melatonin is one of the key regulatory hormones of circadian rhythms. A dysregulation in the release of this hormone is involved in sleep disorders. Low serum melatonin levels have been observed in patients with nocturia compared with patients without nocturia.” [1]
Solution: Melatonin is enhanced with dark green vegetables, algae, seaweeds. Vital Cleanse & Nutrify, or Earth & Sea Greens, or Sea Vegetable Blend, as well as Ormalite and Mineral Manna
[6] Diuretic foods, spices and beverages — coffee, green tea, black tea, yerba mate', alcohol, mint family, cinnamon, dandelion, etc.
Solution: Reduce diuretic substances at least 3 hours prior to sleep
[7] Weakened Hormonal and Renal Systems — Deficiencies in the kidney and adrenal systems (causes being too numerous to list, but chemical and metal toxicity from industry and medicine, and concentrated sugar, top the list) can lead to insufficient filtering operations.
Solution: Be wise with what you eat, drink, and take for therapeutic purposes. Rebuild kidney and adrenal powers (utilizing adaptogenic formulas like Kidney & Adrenal Builder, Revitalize for Women/Men, Adaptogen & Mushroom Blend, Energy & Brain Power).
As the electrolyte balance is restored, salt intake is managed, hydration is improved, body alkalinity is restored, fruits and vegetables take priority in the diet, melatonin levels are enhanced, and the kidneys rebuild in strength and efficiency, then the bladder also returns to normal urinary functioning.
Getting up in the middle of the night becomes a less and less frequent event.
Quite honestly, when I have followed this same advice, I have been able to consume a quart of structured Mineral Manna water just before bed (typically to take my other formulas, especially Day Calm & Deep Sleep), and not have to get up once in the middle of the night.
