Gentle Detox Superfood Drink for Post Holiday Cleansing

December 30, 2019 7 min read

As an addition to the daily diet or as the central focus of a Superfood-Based Fast

Once all the celebrations are over, the thoughts arise about how best to bounce back. It is at this time of year that cleansing programs and fasting are considered.

One safe and effective way to provide a gentle, daily cleansing of the liver (where the sugars, fats, alcohol, chemical food additives, etc. go for processing), is to include a superfood beverage in your daily meal plan.

An effective cleansing, nourishing recipe will naturally include:

1) an herbal superfood blend (with hundreds of phytonutrients)

2) cleansing fruits

3) cleansing veggies

4) and circulatory stimulant spices (to improve nutrient assimilation)

The following superfood beverage recipe can be consumed as a meal replacement or as a meal supplement to reduce the intake of a normal meal, thus providing your digestive system with a much needed rest after so many celebration meals with their typical food combining mistakes.

Know that, for a more rapid recovery from a time of excess, MAXIMUM NUTRITION, not a starvation approach, is the most effective way to recover your health, drop those extra pounds, and regain your mental powers.

Your body needs the superfood nutrition to process the excesses and toxic material that is common with celebration events.

Below is a tasty, extremely nutrient dense superfood beverage recipe. You can vary the ingredients and proportions to suit your palate as desired.

My Personal Experience with this Gentle Detox Superfood Drink

At the time of this writing, I have spent the last 3 days (now on my 8th day) consuming only this beverage plus additional red apples, an occasional banana, vegetable broth, homemade coconut milk, and herbal tea.

Foods can be consumed with this drink if desired, although for cleansing purposes, it is best to eliminate animal products of all kinds and liquid oils (unless you leave out the fruit).

My head has been clear all day long, my energy levels up, and I have very little urge to eat. Another apple, other fruit, some herbal tea (including a small amount of Hyssop Mint Tea among other herbs), or another sip of my all day 24 oz. Superfood Drink, and the craving for food subsides.

It was this way from Day One. No loss of energy. No detox reactions. Just gradual improvements overall as each day goes by.

I don't know if this would be everyone's experience, but superfood nutrition (like what is found in the Vital Cleanse & Nutrify that is in my Gentle Detox Superfood Drink today) provides the body with hundreds of nutritional compounds in the form of phytonutrients, far more than a plate of bulky farm produce can provide, (even if animal products are also on the plate).

Super nutrition consumed daily will also insure that any extra weight taken on will peel off quickly and STAY OFF (given that a good portion of excess weight is the result of starvation diets and malnutrition).

Fasting and calorie restricted diets can become harmful if it triggers an excess of toxins leaving the liver faster than the eliminative organs can keep up with the releases. Reabsorption of the toxins is the common net result of rapid detox.

Malnutrition contributes to this problem of ineffective detoxification through the eliminative organs, since nutrients are needed to facilitate the elimination.

The daily intake of this Gentle Detox Superfood Drink (with or without other food) is a tasty, enjoyable way to build health, gently cleanse the liver, drop the excess, prevent health complications, rapidly alkalize the body, and regain your sense of well being.

Gentle Detox Superfood Drink

Only organically grown or chemical free ingredients are suggested.

The following recipe is to be blended, not juiced, to obtain maximum benefit from the fibrous portion of the plants (where many of the valuable phytonutrients remain). Fibers are an essential part of building probiotics in the gut.

8 oz. (240 ml) coconut water or your best filtered/structured water

Purpose: For electrolytes, hydration, and sweetness. Consuming coconut water is a suitable means of replacing lost blood plasma due to their similarity in composition.

1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) Vital Cleanse & Nutrify or Earth & Sea Greens

Purpose: For maximum herbal superfood nutrition (literally hundreds of phytonutrients). Provides the nutrients the body needs to do a gradual, daily Spring Cleaning of cells and organs. Alkalizes the body quickly and naturally.

1 red apple

Purpose: The red apple supports the natural cleansing of the liver and other organs, improves brain function, helps regulate sugar levels, and supports the lymph cleansing function of the body.

The apple also supports the detox of heavy metals and radiation.

Pectin in the apple is an effective bowel cleanser of pathogens and old, impacted fecal matter.

Note: Apples are famous for countering potential detox/cleansing reactions when the purging of toxins from the cells and the liver is pushed faster than the body can release them through normal eliminative channels.

Warning: For those on a high protein/high fat diet (whether vegan or carnivorous), the beneficial properties of the sugar in the apple and other fruits, will be countered or impeded by fat in the diet, causing insulin resistance and severe discomfort.

Best to avoid the fruit, or go off of the high protein/high fat diet for one week prior to including fruit in this cleansing drink. This gives the body a chance to clear the receptor sites at the cellular level of the excess fat that is blocking sugar reception.

Failure to heed this warning will commonly create inflammation throughout the body.

1/2 cup wild blueberries (frozen)

Purpose: To provide massive number of antioxidants, live enzymes, and phytonutrients. One of Nature's most powerful superfoods.

1/8-1/4 medium beet

Purpose: To gently stimulate the cleansing of the liver and provide nitric oxide benefits to the vascular system. Beets also contribute live enzymes and natural zinc to the mix.

Warnings: Make sure your beets are dark red and certified organic, since many beet crops today have been affected by the GMO strains through wind pollination.

Beet juice can be excessively purging of the liver, resulting in detox side effects and possible reabsorption of the toxins. Consuming the whole beet in moderation, with its fiber, eliminates this detox excess.

If a detox side effect is felt from any protocol, consume red apples, lemon or lime water, cucumbers, and Mineral Manna or Sacred Clay, and/or Friendly Flora to give the liver the assistance it needs to manage the excess.

Take clay baths or shower slurries to draw toxins from areas close to the skin (which is one place the liver pushes toxins when overloaded).

4" (10 cm) of carrot

Purpose: For vitamins, enzymes, and flavor. Supports natural liver detox. Carrots are also beneficial for the eyes.

4" (10 cm) of cucumber

Purpose: For electrolytes, hydration, and gentle cleansing of the liver and kidneys. Excellent for reducing heavy metals and chemicals.

Its electrolytes support adrenal and kidney function, cool overheated conditions, and assist in the filtering of toxic debris through the urine.

The enzymes in cucumbers support brain function and give a boost to your digestive powers.

Squeeze of a lemon or lime wedge (add some peel if desired)

Purpose: For improved hydration, electrolytes, and a slight spunk to the flavor. They promote the cleansing of the liver, lymph, spleen, thyroid, and gallbladder, and thus, the purging of chemicals, radiation, and other toxins.

The citric acid in them acts as a ligand (escort) of nutrients through the cell wall.

Lemons & limes improve the emulsification of fats, and therefore, the proper assimilation of fatty acids, sugars, and other nutrients by helping to reduce circulating fat in the bloodstream blocking sugar assimilation.

They also help reduce phlegm throughout the body.

Preceding this superfood drink with a warm glass of lemon or lime water works wonders for hydration, digestion, and elimination.

Caution: Lemon & lime spunk can overpower the flavor of your drink with larger amounts. Start with a wedge of lemon or lime then build up from there to find the ideal amount for your taste buds.

Note: Before adding a concentrated oil, like olive oil, to your food, it is best to marinate the oil in lemon or lime to emulsify the oil prior to consumption. This reduces the chance of your bile not being adequate at predigesting the oil prior to entering the bloodstream.

Undigested oil flowing in the bloodstream reduces capillary circulation and impedes the assimilation of sugar, oxygen, and nutrients at the cellular level. It also impedes the release of toxins from the cells leading to diseased conditions building up within cells and organs.

This simple fact is one major reason why a high protein/high fat diet eventually becomes a time bomb

1/2 tablespoon (7.5 ml) chia seed

Purpose: For omega fatty acids and fiber.

1/2 tablespoon (7.5 ml) flax seed

Purpose: For omega fatty acids and fiber.

1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) cinnamon

Purpose: For improved use of insulin and to act as a circulatory stimulant, thus nutrient delivery to the cells.

1/4 tsp. (1.25 ml) ginger powder

Purpose: To provide a circulatory stimulus and therefore improve nutrient delivery to the cells.

1/4 tsp. (1.25 ml) turmeric powder

Purpose: For a gentle detoxification of the liver, to boost the strength of the immune system, to improve blood circulation, and to reduce inflammation.

Turmeric is one of Nature's best herbs for gently detoxing the liver, reducing excess cholesterol, improving the cardiovascular system, and increasing oxygen to the cells (due to the reduction of undigested fats clogging cellular receptor sites).

Caution: The flavor of turmeric can quickly dominate a green drink, ruining its enjoyment. Best to start with small amounts, like 1/4 tsp. (1.25 ml), and increase in small increments to your desired levels of taste and effect.

A dash of cayenne

Purpose: To provide a circulatory stimulus and therefore improve nutrient delivery to the cells.

Caution: Be conservative here as cayenne will quickly dominate the flavor with increasing amounts (unless you like it spicy hot).

A dash of nutmeg

Purpose: To support brain function and provide flavor.

Warning: Be conservative with nutmeg as large amounts at one time, or over long periods of use, can be harmful. Everything in moderation.

Makes approximately 24 oz. (720 ml)

Note: If your blender cup is only 16-20 ounces, it will be necessary to blend it up in two batches, each with a portion of the ingredients, then mix the two together.
